Germany to phase out fixed-price support for new small-scale solar power, shifting to market sales by 2027

Germany’s federal cabinet has approved the renewable energy law amendment, EEG 2027.

New small solar systems under 25kW coming online in 2027 will lose long-term fixed feed-in tariff support and shift to direct marketing with a four-year bonus.

Existing installations will keep their contracts, while new rooftop solar will be capped at 50% grid export.

The plan also pushes smart meters and remote control, making small-solar returns more dependent on market prices, self-consumption, and battery use.
