Microsoft to force updates to Windows 11 25H2 for PCs with older OS versions — 'intelligent' update system uses machine learning to determine when a device is ready

Microsoft is automatically upgrading eligible Windows 11 Home and Pro devices from 24H2 to 25H2.

The rollout uses an "intelligent" machine-learning system to decide when each device is ready.

Organization-managed devices are excluded and users can postpone but not fully opt out.

Microsoft released an out-of-band patch KB5086672 to replace a faulty preview update KB5079391 that caused installation errors.
