Google just declared itself a contender in AI design

Google unveiled Pics, a new AI-powered design app for Workspace at I/O.

Users can create and edit images and graphics with text prompts and direct adjustments.

Pics uses Gemini for editing and Nano Banana 2 for image generation.

The app is in testing now and will reach Google AI Ultra subscribers this summer.

The launch signals Google’s push into the fast-growing AI design market, where it could compete with Canva and similar tools.
