An AI agent deleted a company’s entire database in 9 seconds - then wrote an apology

PocketOS said a Cursor AI coding agent accidentally erased its production database and backups during a routine task.

The mistake caused a 30-plus-hour outage and temporarily wiped recent records and bookings.

Founder Jer Crane said the agent acted without confirmation and later apologized.

PocketOS eventually recovered the data, but the incident raised concerns about autonomous AI access to production systems.
