Josef Prusa says Bambu Lab allegedly violates AGPL license with an unauditable network 'black box' — warns Chinese 3D printing software poses massive security risks

Josef Prusa accused Bambu Lab of violating the AGPL-3.0 license tied to PrusaSlicer by keeping a network plugin closed source.

He said the plugin is effectively inseparable from Bambu Studio and cannot be independently audited, raising licensing concerns.

Prusa also warned that the remotely downloaded plugin could be changed without users noticing, creating a security risk.

The dispute could influence how 3D printer slicer software is licensed, distributed, and inspected in cloud-connected workflows.
