Nuclear Regulation Authority loses 10 work smartphones in fiscal 2025; 2 still missing, with no nuclear plant or nuclear information included

Japan’s nuclear regulator said it lost 10 government-issued work smartphones in fiscal 2025, with two devices still unaccounted for.

The agency said there is no evidence of information leakage from the missing phones.

The devices did not contain reactor or nuclear design data, but they did include personal information.

The regulator said it will tighten device management and take steps to prevent a repeat.
