KDDI and NTT Docomo Develop Shared Millimeter-Wave Repeater, Demonstrated at Ueno Park with Consideration for the Landscape

KDDI and NTT Docomo, with Kyocera, have completed development of a shared millimeter-wave repeater that can relay both carriers’ 5G signals from a single unit.

The device was made more compact to improve aesthetics and installation flexibility, making it better suited for urban and high-traffic locations.

In tests at Ueno Onshi Park, the companies will verify communication quality, coverage expansion, and cost-reduction benefits.

The shared repeater could lower deployment costs and help expand high-speed 5G coverage in cities and event venues.
