Blood Tests Could Reveal Alzheimer's Risk Years Before Symptoms Appear

Researchers at Mass General Brigham say the blood biomarker pTau217 may predict Alzheimer’s risk years before symptoms appear.

In healthy older adults, pTau217 closely tracked future amyloid-beta and tau buildup and matched PET scan findings.

If validated, the test could offer earlier, cheaper, and more accessible screening than PET scans.

The findings still need confirmation in larger studies before clinical use.
