Many multidrug-resistant hospital bacteria and environmental strains also showed strong resistance to glyphosate.

The findings suggest weedkiller exposure may help select for bacteria that survive antibiotics as well as herbicides.

If confirmed, antimicrobial resistance may be driven by more than antibiotic use alone, complicating infection control across hospitals and farms.
