OpenAI has completed appointing a local legal representative in Korea under the revised Personal Information Protection Act.

The company also said it will comply with reporting requirements to the Ministry of Science and ICT under the AI Basic Act.

Its privacy policy has already been updated with Korea-specific provisions.

South Korean authorities are checking whether overseas AI firms are properly meeting their local compliance obligations.
