Scientists Discovered a 'Yellow Brick Road' at The Bottom of The Ocean

In 2022, Nautilus surveyed the Liliʻuokalani ridge in Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.

The ridge lies more than 3,000 meters below the ocean surface.

Only about 3% of the monument’s seafloor has been explored.

Researchers found a dried lakebed on the ridge.

They identified hyaloclastite rock, and Nootka seamount also has a summit lakebed with brick-like fractures.
