Local groups protest Meta for blocking human rights activists in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates

ALQST accused Meta of restricting access in Saudi Arabia and the UAE to Facebook pages and Instagram accounts run by rights groups and activists.

The group said the limits appeared to follow requests and regulations from the two governments, and it asked Meta to explain the standards and review process used.

The dispute has renewed concerns that platform-level blocking can enable censorship, weaken public scrutiny, and limit access to information.
