Apple is closing three US stores, including the first to unionize

Apple will permanently close three U.S. retail stores this summer, including its first unionized location in Towson, Maryland.

The company cited tenant losses and worsening mall conditions for the closures in Trumbull, Connecticut; Escondido, California; and Towson, Maryland.

Workers at the Trumbull and Escondido stores can transfer to nearby Apple locations, while Towson employees may seek other roles under the union contract.

The union representing Towson staff says the move could be anti-union and is weighing legal action.
