OpenAI's DeployCo subsidiary adopts Palantir's playbook, building a moat from workflows no lab can simulate

OpenAI is launching DeployCo, a majority-owned subsidiary backed by more than $4 billion to help enterprises embed AI into core workflows.

The new unit will use a Palantir-style forward-deployed engineering model and will acquire UK consultancy Tomoro, adding about 150 deployment specialists.

DeployCo is supported by a broad network of investors and consultants, including TPG, Advent, Bain Capital, Brookfield, and firms like McKinsey and Bain & Company.

ChatGPT Enterprise will remain a separate licensing product, while DeployCo focuses on services-heavy implementation and integration.
