Amazon is ending support for these older Kindle and Kindle Fire devices

Amazon will end support for e-readers and Kindle Fire tablets released in 2012 and earlier.

Beginning May 20, affected devices cannot purchase, borrow, or download new content from the Kindle Store.

Affected e-readers include the original 2007 Kindle, Kindle 2, Kindle DX, Kindle DX Graphite, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle 4, Kindle Touch, Kindle 5, and the first-generation Kindle Paperwhite.

Affected tablets include the first-gen Kindle Fire, second-gen Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD 7, and Kindle Fire HD 8.9.

Already-downloaded books remain readable and libraries stay accessible via newer Kindle devices, the Kindle mobile app, and Kindle for Web; deregistered or factory-reset devices cannot be re-registered, sideloading still works, and Amazon offers 20% off a new Kindle plus a $20 eBook credit.
