Nvidia employee implicated in escalating AI GPU smuggling scandal, but demand only intensifies for Nvidia hardware

Taiwanese authorities detained an Nvidia employee and searched his home and workplace in a probe into alleged document forgery tied to AI GPU smuggling.

The case started with allegations involving Supermicro-linked workers and expanded into suspected rerouting of servers and GPUs from Southeast Asia to China.

Nvidia says it is not under investigation and has tightened checks on suppliers.

The investigation could lead to stricter export controls and closer scrutiny of attempts to divert restricted AI hardware to China.
