Florida AG to probe OpenAI, alleging possible connection to FSU shooting

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said his office will investigate OpenAI over alleged harms to minors, national security risks, and a possible link between ChatGPT and the 2025 Florida State University shooting.

The probe will examine whether ChatGPT contributed to child safety concerns or was misused in ways that raised criminal or security issues.

OpenAI said it will cooperate with the investigation.

The case could add to legal and regulatory pressure on OpenAI over child safety and AI abuse concerns.
