Tokyo airport testing out humanoid robot baggage carriers

Haneda Airport will begin a pilot in early May to test Unitree humanoid robots in ground operations through 2028.

The robots will handle routine tasks such as moving baggage and cleaning both tarmac and cabin areas.

Human workers will still oversee safety and other critical duties.

The trial reflects how airports are using automation to address labor shortages in repetitive ground work.
