Google announces Wear OS 7 with Live Updates, widgets, more

Google previewed Wear OS 7 at I/O 2026, with a more Android-like design, redesigned Live Updates, and widget-style tiles for Pixel Watches.

The update is expected later this year and promises about 10% better battery efficiency than Wear OS 6, plus improved workout tracking and media controls.

Google is also expanding Gemini integration and giving developers new AppFunctions API tools, aiming to make Wear OS more consistent, useful, and automated.
