David Silver, the AlphaGo pioneer, has launched Ineffable Intelligence to build superintelligent AI through reinforcement learning and self-directed learning.

He says the industry’s heavy reliance on large language models is a dead end because they depend on human-generated data instead of independent discovery.

The startup has already raised $1.1 billion at a $5.1 billion valuation and recruited researchers from major AI labs.
