Chinese scientists hit record 63 K in nickel superconductors without extreme pressure

Chinese researchers led by Xue Qikun reported nickel-based superconductors with transition temperatures of 63 K, 50 K, and 46 K.

The materials work without extreme pressure and were grown using atomic-scale techniques to study their electronic structure.

The findings strengthen nickelates as a promising third family of high-temperature superconductors.

They could help guide future low-resistance technologies and improve understanding of how superconductivity emerges.
