Apple Adds Another iPad to Vintage Products List

Apple added the iPad Air 3 (Wi‑Fi) to its vintage products list; cellular iPad Air 3 models were already listed.

iPad Air 3 was released in March 2019 and was discontinued in September 2020 when the iPad Air 4 launched.

Specs: 10.5‑inch display, A12 Bionic chip, design similar to the 2017 iPad Pro, and support for the first‑generation Apple Pencil.

Design/ports: the last iPad to include a Lightning port and a Home button before the move to USB‑C; Touch ID in the power button; last version to have white bezels.

There was a recall program for screen flickering/flashing or dying with replacements offered up to two years from purchase. Apple classifies products as vintage after five years and obsolete after seven; vintage devices can be repaired at Apple retail locations or Authorized Service Providers if parts are available, while obsolete devices are generally not eligible for repair and Apple stops providing repair components.
