EV owners whose manufacturer went bankrupt analyze the software themselves and build open-source tools

Fisker Ocean owners have formed a nonprofit to keep their bankrupt EVs running.

They are reverse-engineering the car’s software and publishing open-source maintenance tools on GitHub.

The group is also helping source parts, coordinate repairs, and push regulators and insurers for support.

The effort highlights how manufacturer bankruptcy can strand software-dependent cars and fuel repairability debates.
