Announcing the Monetization Gateway: charge for any resource behind Cloudflare via x402

Cloudflare announced a Monetization Gateway to charge for protected webpages, datasets, APIs, and MCP tools.

Payment rules are enforced at the edge, enabling usage-based billing for machine traffic and AI agent access.

The launch uses stablecoin settlement via x402, an open protocol backed by more than 25 industry partners.

The move could make low-cost, real-time micropayments a practical way to monetize digital content and software.
