Drought spreads across the southern region... Milyang Dam raised to 'Alert' and Pyeorim Dam to 'Caution', Ministry of Climate and Environment mobilizes all efforts to conserve water

Continued rainfall shortages in the south have pushed Milyang Dam to a drought “alert” level and Pyeolrim Dam to “watch.”

The government is using river water and agricultural reservoirs as alternative sources to keep household and industrial water supplies flowing.

It is also reducing agricultural and river-maintenance water releases to conserve storage and prevent shortages.

The move highlights the growing importance of proactive water management as floods and droughts increasingly occur together under climate change.
