Hugging Face Has a Deepfake Nudes Problem

A report says Hugging Face hosts image-editing tools widely used to create nonconsensual sexual deepfakes, including nudified images of women and some apparent children.

European nonprofit AI Forensics found that many tested Spaces could turn clothed photos of women topless, and a honeypot drew mostly sexual prompts aimed at undressing or sexualizing women.

WIRED also found pages promoting nudifying tools and models that could sexualize named public figures.

Hugging Face said some safeguards are missing, disputed parts of the testing methods, and said it is working to address the problem.
