Samsung Slashes Its HBM Development Cycle from 2 Years to 1, Betting Its Future on AI Demand

Samsung Electronics plans to shorten its HBM development cycle from about two years to one year to better match the pace of AI accelerator launches.

The faster roadmap would help Samsung bring HBM3E, HBM4, and HBM4E to market sooner and compete more directly with SK Hynix and Micron.

The move is aimed at securing future design wins with customers building chips like NVIDIA Vera Rubin and AMD Instinct MI400.

By accelerating HBM development, Samsung hopes to close the gap in the AI memory supply chain and regain momentum in the market.
