Instagram launches “Instants,” a photo-sharing feature that disappears after viewing

Instagram has launched Instants, a new disappearing photo-sharing feature, with an optional standalone app on Android and iOS in select countries.

Users can snap and send unedited photos to close friends or mutual followers, and the image disappears after being viewed.

Photos can be saved privately for up to a year, reshared to Stories, and protected with screenshot and screen recording blocks.

The feature also uses Instagram's existing safety controls for teen accounts and restricted audiences.
