James Comey indicted over Instagram seashell photo that allegedly threatened Trump

The Justice Department indicted former FBI Director James Comey over an Instagram post it says threatened Donald Trump.

Prosecutors said a deleted photo of seashells arranged as “8647” was interpreted as a threat; Comey said he meant it as a political message.

Comey said he removed the post after realizing some people saw it as violent.

The case could deepen scrutiny over how social media posts are judged as threats and add to political tensions around Trump.
