A million baby monitors and security cameras were easily viewable by hackers

A researcher found that about 1.1 million Meari-linked baby monitors and security cameras were exposed through weak authentication and insecure cloud systems.

The issue involved insecure MQTT design, default passwords, and exposed cloud storage, allowing access to one device to unlock many others.

Affected devices and ecosystems included Meari Technology, Wyze, Zhiyun, Intelbras, Petcube, and CloudEdge, with data routed through EMQX and Alibaba servers.

The breach could let outsiders view homes, photos, and device data, underscoring how a single weak key can put massive numbers of IoT cameras at risk.
