Soviet jet dropping 11-kiloton nuclear bomb captured in rare Cold War-era video

Rare footage appears to show a 1962 Soviet nuclear delivery test over Semipalatinsk.

An Su-7B fighter, flown by Lt. Col. A. I. Shein, reportedly dropped a live 244N bomb that detonated at about 800 feet with an 11-kiloton yield.

The clip may instead depict a non-nuclear training device, so the exact nature of the event remains uncertain.

If authentic, it underscores how unusual live air-dropped nuclear tests became after atmospheric testing was curtailed.
