Tokyo Metro shows car-by-car crowding in real time, adds crowding forecasts

Tokyo Metro started showing car-by-car real-time crowding on platform displays for Hibiya Line (toward Nakameguro) and Tozai Line (toward Nakano).

Displays were installed at five stations (six locations) and use depth cameras and AI to measure crowding per car.

The system shows actual crowding for arriving trains and six-level color-coded forecasts of crowding after boarding to help passengers choose cars.
