Google introduces new ‘selfie video’ sign-in method

Google is rolling out a new selfie video sign-in option for Google Accounts.

Users can verify identity by recording a guided video on a camera-enabled mobile or desktop device.

Google compares the live video with a saved selfie and adds fraud checks to help block impersonation and deepfakes.

The feature gives users another recovery path when they cannot access their usual phone or computer, and the video can be deleted later.
