Webb Space Telescope Uncovers Unexpected Ice Clouds on a Jupiter-Like World

JWST’s MIRI directly imaged the Jupiter-like exoplanet Epsilon Indi Ab.

The team measured it at about 7.6 Jupiter masses and detected water-ice clouds in its atmosphere.

The result shows that even gas-giant exoplanets can have more complex atmospheres than expected.

It also highlights observing techniques that could help study smaller, potentially Earth-like worlds in the future.
