Bees flew about 120 meters between hive and food and each individual followed a distinct, repeatable 3D route.

Flight precision was higher near prominent landmarks and lower over visually uniform terrain like a cornfield.

The team concluded bees rely on visual landmarks and navigate more accurately than waggle dance directional information alone indicates.
