Google's Veo 3.1 Lite cuts video generation costs by more than half

Google DeepMind launched Veo 3.1 Lite as the cheapest Veo 3.1 tier available now.

Veo 3.1 Lite supports text-to-video and image-to-video at 720p and 1080p in portrait and landscape with 4, 6, or 8 second clips.

Pricing starts at $0.05 per second for 720p, and Google will cut Veo 3.1 Fast prices beginning April 7.

Veo 3.1 Lite is available through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio and full details are in the developer documentation.

The announcement comes after OpenAI said it is shutting down Sora and amid competition from Alibaba's Seedance 2.0.
