AMD’s new pitch: our old tech is so good you should just keep using it

AMD says its AM5 desktop platform will keep getting new Ryzen CPUs through 2029, extending upgrade support into the end of the decade.

At Computex 2026, AMD also revived the Ryzen 7 5800X3D as a $349 anniversary edition and announced the Ryzen 7 7700X3D at $330.

The Radeon RX 9070 GRE is expanding beyond China to more countries, including the US, with a starting price of $549.

The moves could lower upgrade costs for gamers while broadening AMD’s desktop gaming and GPU lineup.
