Airbus triples compute power with supercomputer upgrade for next-gen aircraft design

Airbus has deployed a new two-site supercomputer from Bull, linking sites in France and Germany as one HPC resource.

Built under a five-year €100 million service deal, the system uses AMD and NVIDIA hardware plus IBM Spectrum Scale and InfiniBand NDR.

The upgrade delivers about three times the compute of the previous setup for aircraft design, simulation, and digital twin workloads.

It gives Airbus much greater capacity for next-generation aerospace development and highlights the shift toward distributed, service-based HPC procurement.
