AEON to test-sell the world’s first fully farmed eel kabayaki, not reliant on natural resources

Aeon will begin a limited test sale of fully farmed eel kabayaki, produced by Yamada Suisan, through its online supermarket and e-commerce site.

The initiative supports the Fisheries Research and Education Agency’s push to bring fully farmed eel into practical use without relying on wild glass eels.

Customers who buy the product will be asked to complete surveys, and the feedback will be used to guide future rollout.

The move is designed to assess both market acceptance and the commercial potential of eel farming that helps conserve resources.
