USAF’s supersonic B-1B Lancer bomber could soon get hypersonic missile power

Boeing and the US Air Force advanced a new Load Adaptable Modular pylon for the B-1B Lancer.

The design uses existing hard points to carry hypersonic missiles and other external payloads.

The work passed a preliminary design review, moving the upgrade closer to implementation.

If fielded, it could extend the B-1B’s relevance and strengthen U.S. long-range strike options.
