People would rather have an Amazon warehouse in their backyard than a data center

Two recent polls show significant public resistance to data centers in local communities.

A Harvard/MIT poll of about 1,000 people found 40% supported and 32% opposed local data center construction.

The Harvard/MIT poll also found two-thirds worried a new data center would raise electricity prices and that more people preferred an e-commerce warehouse.

A Quinnipiac poll of 1,397 U.S. adults found 65% oppose and 24% support building an AI data center in their community.
