Will ChatGPT and Roblox face the EU's toughest regulations? Designation expected as early as August

The European Commission is reportedly considering designating ChatGPT’s search feature as a VLOSE and Roblox as a VLOP.

Both services have disclosed user numbers above the EU’s 45 million monthly active user threshold, making them eligible for the label.

If approved, the DSA would impose top-tier obligations including systemic risk assessments, annual external audits, and transparency reporting.

They would also face supervisory fees, internal compliance requirements, and data access obligations for vetted researchers.
