Amazon hits sellers with ‘fuel surcharge’ as Iran war roils global energy markets

Amazon will add a 3.5% fuel surcharge for sellers using its distribution network starting April 17.

The surcharge applies to merchants using Fulfillment by Amazon and is described as lower than surcharges by other major carriers.

Amazon said the fee will remain for the foreseeable future while it evaluates market conditions amid higher fuel and logistics costs.

Bloomberg first reported the news amid global oil-price spikes linked to the war in Iran and disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz.
