Pope Leo XIV used his first encyclical to warn that AI should not be treated as human intelligence.

He called for stronger regulation, child safeguards, worker protections, and human control over critical decisions and weapons.

The Vatican said AI’s growth must not concentrate power or widen harm, even as it can bring real benefits.
