Nintendo sued by players who say they should get any tariff refunds received by the US government

Two U.S. players have sued Nintendo, saying tariff-linked price hikes on Switch hardware and accessories should not let the company keep any government refunds tied to those same tariffs.

The plaintiffs argue that if Nintendo already raised prices because of import tariffs, any refunds it later receives from the U.S. government should be passed back to customers.

The case will test whether a company can benefit from tariff-driven price increases and also retain tariff refunds as extra profit.

Its outcome could shape how consumer price hikes are handled after trade-policy disputes.
