Bringing wind power 100 km offshore seemed impossible. Until China launched its new metal "heart"

China moved the 25,000-ton Hai Feng Zhi Xin offshore converter station from Nantong to Yangjiang in Guangdong.

The station will link the Qingzhou V and VII wind farms and convert power from 163 turbines from AC to HVDC.

That enables efficient long-distance submarine transmission, making deep-water offshore wind projects more commercially viable.

The project expands where large wind farms can be built and supports higher clean-energy output.
