Pixel Now Playing brings back ‘Tap to see what’s playing’ lockscreen search

Google is bringing back a Pixel Now Playing lockscreen shortcut that lets users tap to manually start song identification.

The prompt appears below the fingerprint icon and leads to a result card with artwork and playback options.

The feature had been removed in a redesign, so this restores a fast one-tap way to search music from the lockscreen.

The update appears tied to Android System Intelligence B.23 and the Google Play Store.
