Researcher develops 'spray-on' stealth coating for drones — volcanic rock formulation claims to reduce radar return signals by up to 43dB, compared to 20 to 30dB for typical radar absorbent material

A Turkish defense researcher says he developed Kürşat 3.0, a spray-on radar-absorbing coating for drones made from volcanic materials.

He claims tests showed up to 43 dB reduction in radar returns, which could make small UAVs much harder to detect.

The reported performance has not yet been independently verified, so the results remain provisional.

If confirmed, the low-cost coating could improve drone stealth and force changes in counter-drone radar systems.
