Samsung’s New Deadline — You Have 12 Weeks To ‘Upgrade’ Your Phone

Samsung will discontinue the Samsung Messages app in July 2026 and told users to switch to Google Messages.

After the cutoff, Samsung Messages cannot send messages except to emergency numbers or emergency contacts.

Devices running Android 11 or lower are not affected, but Android 12 and 13 users must add Google Messages manually to the home screen.

Samsung warned pre-2022 Galaxy phones may see temporary RCS disruptions when switching messaging apps.
