NASA takes steps toward building a Moon base, including discussing a "perimeter"

NASA is advancing early Moon base planning through the MoonFall drone program.

Small drones would reach the lunar surface before Artemis IV to capture high-resolution imagery, look for water ice, and assess landing sites.

Later, the drones could help mark the future base perimeter or serve as beacons.

The effort is meant to improve mapping, identify safe construction zones, and support sustained lunar exploration.
